Bold Beautiful Perfect: Rochelle

Bold Beautiful Perfect

Rochelle, New Orleans

“When my outer beauty was stolen, I came to understand that true beauty comes from within.” – Rochelle

One of the things I loved most about Rochelle is her passion for helping others. She runs 2 daycare centers and loves encouraging teachers to mold the minds of these precious children who are the future. Hardworking and ambitious, Rochelle plans to go back to school to become an Adolescent Psychiatrist to better understand the human mind. She plans to use her schooling to help others live their most fabulous lives.

How did you come to understand your inner beauty?

“I came to understand my inner beauty most recently. I’ve always been told that I have a beautiful heart and that my personality is outgoing and intoxicating, but it was just words to me.

The hardest challenge came more recently. My outer beauty was stolen from me in a domestic violence incident that left burns on my face, neck, and arms. Looking in the mirror all bandaged up, I was unable to see the same person looking back. My new appearance challenged my understanding of my own beauty.

Despite this, my spirit never wavered. My response gave my friends and family peace with what happened, and it reminded my doctors and nurses why they do what they do. I came to understand that my inner beauty comes from how I can inspire and encourage other people in life’s toughest situations.

“You can be an encouragement to someone without even realizing it.” – Rochelle

What advice can you share to help women to understand their own beauty?

“Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to see the beauty you already have. When someone tells you you’re beautiful or that you have a nice smile, don’t just brush it off! Accept it and realize that it’s TRUE.

No one is required to give you a compliment. When they do, understand that they’re being honest about how you made them feel.

What was your experience with the photo shoot?

“My experience with the photo shoot was nothing short of amazing! I was nervous at first because I wasn’t sure where to look, how to stand, or when to smile or not smile. Once I accepted that Brandi was doing this for me to FEEL beautiful and not LOOK beautiful, I opened up and stood in my right to feel beautiful. It was all smiles and fun from then on.”
