Becky, tell us a little bit about yourself!

I am a wife to my husband of over 30 years and a mother of 2.  Whether I’m working, spending time with my husband, shopping with my daughter, laughing with my son, or outdoors walking, I enjoy being active and spending time with my loves ones!

In the spring, I love to watch the trees and plants come alive.  You’ll never hear me complain about the summer heat either!

After 26 years of working a job I loved and learned so much from, I retired and am currently serving as an Election Commissioner for Harrison County.

What is inner beauty?

“My inner beauty has nothing to do with my physical appearance.  It has to do with how I feel about myself.  It’s reflected in how I treat others and how I expect to be treated by others.”

What advice can you share to help women to understand their own beauty?

“Love yourself no matter what!  I am not 5’6 or size 2 and never will be (but if I could gain a few inches and lose a few dress sizes, I wouldn’t complain).  On the contrary, I was much bigger for quite some time.

“I was in an accident almost 12 years ago that left me with a broken ankle and heel.  Since then, I’ve had several surgeries to my ankle.  It wasn’t until I made the decision to do something about my weight that it changed.  Family medical history would indicate that it would be best for me to maintain a healthy weight.  Feeling good and being able to do more was a plus to push me to my weight loss journey and having surgery.  Achieving and sustaining it will be MY personal success.

“I have always tried to be a confident woman.  My expectations for life are not based on physical appearance.  I control how I feel about myself and how others make me feel.

“If I think I am beautiful, then I am.  So to the women who read this: BE BEAUTIFUL!”

What was your experience with the photo shoot?

“I filled out the initial form to be considered for Bold, Beautiful + Perfect Project on a whim.  When I received the email that I had been selected, I was excited and apprehensive.  I have never thought of myself as being photogenic – and talking about yourself is not easy either!  I think, at least for me, that we can easily find more negative than positives.  Doing this photo shoot was a step outside of my comfort zone, and it pushed me to find positives.

“I was a bit nervous going into the photo shoot.  I knew it would be more that “just getting your picture taken.”  Brandi made me feel comfortable and welcome as soon as I arrived.  My husband came with me that day and she made him feel welcome as well.  She introduced me to Jackie Merlau Hall and Kim Callecod.  I was told to sit back, relax, and enjoy the pampering.  So I did just that and enjoyed it very much.  Brandi guided me through the photo shoot, step by step, which made it a wonderful experience. Thank you!”

Becky’s challenge to you

“It’s easy to be confident when it’s something you are comfortable with or have knowledge of.  Go beyond your comfort zone.  When you find confidence in yourself, you can see your inner beauty shining through.  You may be able to help others find theirs, whether it is a smile that lifts their spirits or being told you are beautiful by a photographer while having your picture taken.  Build yourself, be confident and see a BOLD, BEAUTIFUL + PERFECT YOU!”
