Tell us about yourself, Anna!

I was born and raised in Hattiesburg, MS, and have lived on the coast since 2012, when I graduated from Mississippi State University. I moved to Ocean Springs in 2017 when my husband and I got married, where we currently reside with our 4-year-old Australian Shepherd Zoey. I have been a practicing registered nurse since 2016 and have worked in the ICU and PACU. I am currently working on my master’s in nursing to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a nurse practitioner.

 

How did you come to understand your own beauty?

I just recently turned thirty, and I believe with age comes wisdom. Like a lot of women, I’ve had my struggles with self-esteem and body image issues. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized how one’s outer appearance is such a minuscule part of the whole realm of beauty. I’ve realized how kindness and compassion for others are where true beauty lies. I feel fulfilled being able to care for those who are ill and to serve the public through nursing. I have the ability to be a bright spot in somebody’s bad day through my career. This is how I have come to discover my inner beauty.

This project is all about inspiring women to see their beauty. What parts of your story can you share to help women to understand their own beauty?

I think women will be able to resonate with my story because so many also struggle with self-esteem and body image issues. The beauty standards in our culture can be so disheartening. I used to obsess about my clothing size and the number on the scale. As I have gotten older, I have realized those things don’t matter as much as who you are on the inside. God made us all unique and beautiful in a particular way. I think it is so important to build other women up with positivity and encouragement. A genuine compliment given to another goes a long way because you never know what some people are struggling with. I want to be a positive light at all times by empowering other women to embrace their inner beauty.

 

 

Tell us about your experience with the photo shoot.

It means the absolute world to me that I was chosen for this. It has always been my dream to have a photoshoot like this. Having a photoshoot as well as spreading such a positive message through the Bold, Beautiful + Perfect project is the icing on the cake. I feel so fortunate to be apart of this fantastic project.

This photoshoot was an absolute dream come true. I have been an avid fan of Brandi Stage for a long time now, and for her to choose me for this project and photoshoot was amazing and such an honor. The day was so much fun, and she made me feel so comfortable and at ease because I was very nervous at first. Overall, it was an incredible experience, and I am so thankful for the opportunity to spread such a positive message.

In this modern world that runs on technology, it is so easy to feed into a lot of the negativity we see portrayed on social media. I think this project is so beautiful because it will be sharing a positive message to women in our community to embrace others and encourage them to see how beautiful they are!
