Bold Beautiful Perfect: Michelle

“You don’t need to look in the mirror to see a beautiful person. Look into your heart to find your true beauty.”

Tell us about yourself!

I’m Michelle! I am married, a mother of three wonderful children, and a grandmother of 5 (soon to be 6!) grandchildren. I work full time in the medical field of pediatrics.

Over the years, I have changed a lot and grown in ways I never knew I could. I have always struggled with self image and felt envious of “the pretty girls” or “the skinny girls.” It has taken me a long time to realize that just because you don’t look like a super model doesn’t mean you’re not pretty. Inner beauty is about having a caring soul, and that’s what really counts.

How did you come to understand your beauty?

I’ve struggled with my weight for most of my life, trying several different things to lose weight. Last June, I developed a new determination. No matter what, I was going to lose weight. I joined a weight loss clinic and managed to lose 25 pounds. As the weight began to come off, I noticed my confidence coming back a little at a time.

However, I had a change of perspective after talking with some friends who told me something that stuck with me. “Beauty on the outside is one thing, but you’re beautiful on the inside.” After thinking about that more, I realized they were right. When I love, I love deeply and when I care, I truly care with my whole heart.

This project is all about inspiring women to see their beauty. What parts of your story can you share to help women to understand their own beauty?

You have to find that inner peace. You have to learn to love yourself even in your short comings. Once you learn that you ARE good enough, then you can love others. Sometimes it takes talking about your situation and feelings with others to help you truly understand that YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH. You don’t need to look in the mirror to see a beautiful person. Look into your heart to find your true beauty.

What did the shoot mean to you? What did it feel like to be selected?

I was so excited to be selected for this project! The photo shoot helped me realize that just because I’m older doesn’t mean that I can’t try new things. Being part of this project showed me that I am not alone. There are others out there that feel the way I do. And if my confidence to share my story gives just one other person the confidence to do it too, then it’s a win for both of us!

I couldn’t have asked for a better day at the photo shoot with Brandi! What woman doesn’t enjoy having their hair and make up done?! I loved the opportunity to try colors and styles that I don’t normally gravitate towards. Besides being photographed, one of the best parts was watching Brandi’s excitement as she would peek at the back of her camera to see the shots she had just captured. Her excitement was contagious, and she made me feel comfortable in the way she posed me.

Anything else you’d like to share?

Ladies, please believe that we are all beautiful in our own way. We may not think we have the prettiest complexion or the best shaped body, but if you have a beautiful heart, you have everything you need.
