Tell us about yourself, Renae!
I’m a 40-year-old wife and mother who has a passion for weddings, art, and special events. I was a local wedding planner on the Gulf Coast for 3 1/2 years. I decided to part with the wedding industry to get back into sales. My days are filled with working, taking care of my family, and spending time with my fur babies.
How did you come to understand your inner beauty?
Growing up I always felt like a misfit, surrounding myself with groups of people just trying to fit in (whatever that means?!). It wasn’t until I attended art school in Chicago that I finally felt at home! My fellow artists taught me that beauty doesn’t come from the outward appearance and that it’s okay to express yourself as you are.
What parts of your story can you share to help women to understand their own beauty?
Discovering my inner beauty is a continuous process. I’ve learned that beauty doesn’t mean you have to have long hair, be skinny, have tanned skin, or perfect teeth. I’ve learned that beauty can be the scar on your knee where you fell when you were a kid. Beauty is in the lines marked by time. Beauty is what we feel in the inside which also shows on the outside. Beauty is in the marks that life leaves on us, the kicks and caresses that the memories leave behind. Beauty is letting yourself LIVE and LOVING yourself!
Tell us about your experience with the photo shoot.
What an amazing experience I had with Brandi. I’ve always felt awkward in front of a camera, but Brandi makes you feel like you’ve been taking professional pictures your whole life. It was a great day!!! I felt so honored to be a part of such an inspiring message for other women!
Anything else you would like to share?
Accept yourself. Love yourself just as you are. Your finest work, your best moments, your joy, peace and healing come when you love yourself. You give a great gift to the world when you do that and you give others permission to do the same.
