Tell us about yourself, Liz!

I am an award-winning, multi-time Amazon international best-selling author, the owner and CEO of Hoop Cares LLC, a senior concierge business providing transportation and caregiver services. I love helping and encouraging others; it’s my calling and a way to minister to others. I attend Magnolia Springs Assembly of God church, where I am a member of the choir and a leader of the women’s ministry team. I serve on the board of directors for MS Heroes, the Mental Health Association of South Mississippi, and Adult & Teen Challenge for Women in Mississippi. I am an ambassador for Be Mississippi Chamber and serve as the Chairperson for TRIAD of Jackson County, Miss., an organization that works to continually improve safety awareness education among senior citizens. I am also a Community Educator for the Alzheimer’s Association of MS. I enjoy volunteering my time in efforts that help others. I have received numerous nominations and awards recognizing my efforts, most recently as Best Of Mississippi Award for Author of Anthology for the Year and International Boss Award – Anthology of the Year. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

How did you come to understand your inner beauty?

True inner beauty is shown in the kindness which comes the heart. Once I learned what a treasure I am in the eyes of God, I learned that He sees me as beautiful. My flaws are what makes me stronger; I am uniquely created. It’s okay not to look like a supermodel or a social media influencer. I only need to be me and accept myself for who I am. That’s when I began to see my inner beauty. I also believe that having Christ in my heart lets a shine forth that others see.

Inner beauty is shown in how we treat ourselves and those around us. It goes far beyond our physical appearance. Instead, we can display our inner beauty by demonstrating qualities such as kindness, compassion, love, and honesty. A person can be beautiful on the outside, but their beauty is only skin deep if they don’t possess these qualities.

The Bible tells us our beauty is not measured by the clothes we wear or how we look, but “rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit which is of great worth in God’s sight” (1 Peter 3:4, NIV).

When I really let this sink in, I began to understand my inner beauty.

What parts of your story can you share to help women to understand their own beauty?

I believe that we are all individually created for a purpose. I realized the purpose I was created for isn’t the same as that of any of my sisters or friends. They’re all amazing women, but I was uniquely created to do what I’ve been called to do: love and care for the elderly and God’s “special” creations. I am an author because I have experiences to share and help others.

I want women to realize that you don’t have to have perfect hair or be a size 2 to be beautiful. You are your own person, uniquely created by God himself.

Anything else you’d like to share?

I encourage everyone to step out of your comfort zone and stretch yourself. If you get the chance to work with Brandi for a photo shoot, you should take it.
