2023 Bold Beautiful Perfect: Rhonda

“As a young woman, I struggled with my identity and it took me many years to discover my own inner beauty. What I have realized along the way is who I am in Christ!

Rhonda, tell us about yourself!

Hi, I am Rhonda Jones!

First and foremost, I am the daughter of a king that is not moved by the world. I became a believer in the messiah at a very young age. My God is with me and goes before me; I do not fear because I am his.

I grew up in the South and married Tom Jones right out of high school. He is my best friend and faithful, loving husband and father. We have grown up together, we have a family together, and we will continue to grow together. Our marriage has had its ups and downs, but we have always maintained our faith in us as a couple (a spirit in a body, having a human experience on this earthly journey). We have three incredible sons, three beautiful daughters-in-law, and five adorable grandchildren between 1-12 years old. Our desire now is to enjoy our golden years while watching our legacy transpire before our eyes.

I was raised in a Christian home. We didn’t show much outward love and affection. It was just an understanding that we had, by the care that we gave to each other. Our family didn’t have a lot of material possessions, but my mother and father were very generous people. My mother was a woman that tried to save the world. She would bring people into our home that needed food and shelter, a safe place. She would carry around cash to help others with food, utilities, and other necessities.

My father was a soft-spoken, gentle, faithful and humble man, always meek and kind. Being outdoors in nature was his happy place. He taught me how to live off of the land. The greatest gift my father gave to me was his unconditional love! He taught me the power of having the Holy Spirit as my forever friend and how to surrender to the power of now. He taught me how to listen to the subtle promptings of the Holy Spirit. The last 24 years of his life were spent in a wheelchair paralyzed from the waist down, but he never complained. He was a Prayer Warrior living by example. He is my hero!

How did you come to understand your inner beauty?

As a young woman, I struggled with my identity and it took me many years to discover my own inner beauty. What I have realized along the way is who I am in Christ! I know that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. We are all uniquely made. I know that I am part of God’s family. We are “royal daughters” in the Kingdom of God. He delights in our beauty – not just the beauty that can be seen with the eyes – it is our inner beauty that brings him such joy! He doesn’t see things the way we see them. People judge by outward appearances, but the Lord looks at the heart. Each of us possesses what we need. You are a holy princess in the Kingdom of God with strength and abilities to be used in his Kingdom. You are a cherished member of God’s royal family, given access to the fullness of his love and provision. So let your light shine!

In 2005 (the year of Katrina), I received a scary and unexpected melanoma cancer diagnosis that gave me only a short amount of time to live. I was a nurse in a family of medical practitioners, but I decided to step outside of mainstream healing. Instead, I went on a healing journey in search for wholeness and harmony of the mind, body, and spirit. I grabbed arms with God and never looked back! By the grace of God, I am still here to share my story 18 years later. I went on to become a yoga teacher. I received several holistic certifications and became a breathwork facilitator. It has been quite the journey and I believe this is a much needed approach to healthcare. My greatest cheerleader continues to be my husband and best friend Tom for over 42 years. I don’t know what I would have done without his love and support. He truly encompasses the meaning of love!

What parts of your story can you share to help women to understand their own beauty?

My passion is sharing my stories to encourage other women through soulful connections to find their own inner beauty, purpose, and calling on their lives. I host women’s retreats at our beach house and others venues. The retreats are a gathering place where women come together in a sacred space to share stories and find wisdom, encouragement, and everlasting friendships. I love to share from my own personal toolbox all of the tools that I have collected along the way. I especially love to share the jewels from my treasure chest.

Tell us about your experience with the photoshoot?

The photoshoot was an incredible experience! Brandi really knows how to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera. It was such a fun day, from the makeup to the hair and all of the fun photos. I’m so grateful to share my story to encourage other women to find their own inner beauty.
