Tell us about yourself, Lynn!
I am a 67-year-old woman, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a retired nurse. I’m originally from Georgia (Go Dawgs!) before my husband and I relocated to the beautiful Mississippi gulf coast. We originally bought our Mississippi property as an investment, but every time we returned to our home near Atlanta, we wanted to turn around and go right back! We fell in the love with the peaceful atmosphere, minimal traffic, and laid back lifestyle – not to mention the activities, and oh my gosh, the seafood!
What parts of your story can you share to help women to understand their own beauty?
My mother used to say, “Pretty is as pretty does.” True beauty comes from within; it’s how you use the gifts that God has given you, how you love others, and how you love yourself.
My spiritual gift is the gift of mercy. Discovering this out as a critical care nurse caring for patients and families in the worst of times, then going home to care for my children as a divorced mother for ten years, it makes perfect sense. The last one I took care of was ME!
Well, God had a plan. I was going through life focused on my family, work, and responsibilities when the Lord placed my husband-to-be in my path. I sure didn’t see that coming! But it affirmed what my mother said many years ago. How I loved my children and family was beautiful. How I cared for my patients and their families was beautiful. How I loved God was beautiful. “Pretty is as pretty does.” And I knew that my beauty came from my heart, my soul, and the gifts God gave me. Look inside yourself – you are beautiful! God made you that way.
Tell us about your experience with the photoshoot?
I was very nervous going into my photo shoot, but Brandi is a joy to be with and as the session progressed, I certainly got more comfortable. I was rather sad when it was over. I would definitely do it again!
This wasn’t about a photographer wanting to make a buck. This was a mission to help other women see the beauty in themselves. The icing on the cake was how stunning these portraits turned out to be. Brandi is so talented! I am honored to be a small part of this.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
My friend from high school gave me a jewelry box with these words engraved: “You are a jewel! God don’t make no junk.” She knew before I did. I admit, it’s a grammatical nightmare, but it’s true!
