2025 40 Over 40 Series: Gretchen Morvant
“Life isn’t always fair as women. We are groomed to care love and give to others and learn to forget about ourselves. Then one day you’ll wake up and your work is over. The kids are grown and the spouse is doing his thing that he’s been doing for years. All you want is not to be invisible and figure out who YOU are.“
Gretchen’s story:
Life isn’t always fair as women. We are groomed to care love and give to others and learn to forget about ourselves. Then one day you’ll wake up and your work is over. The kids are grown and the spouse is doing his thing that he’s been doing for years. All you want is not to be invisible and figure out who YOU are. Remember the vibrant, carefree person you used to be? The one who laughed easily, danced like nobody was watching, and found joy in the little things? She’s still there, waiting for you to rediscover her. It’s time to bring her back. Take a moment to think about what brings you joy. What activities make your heart sing? Whether it’s painting, hiking, reading, or simply enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning sun, carve out time for those things. Reconnect with your passions and let them fill your spirit.
What are some of the rewarding parts of the current decade you are in? The challenges?
Being a grandmother of 7 and great grandmother of 4 while still able to run with them all. The challenge is understanding my age.
What has been your favorite decade you have lived through and why?
This decade watching my children become parents and knowing the pride I feel comes from the people they have become and that I influenced them.
If given the opportunity, what would you do differently?
Found the courage to protect myself and children from the bad issues we survived.
What was your top life lesson that you’ve never forgotten and have lived by?
Always laugh at yourself, wear a smile, leave them laughing, and if someone opens up to you listen.
What has bought you the most joy in your life?
What was your experience like working with Brandi Stage Portraiture as a part of the 40 Over 40 Project?
Simply wonderful! I found myself again, I was able to see me in mirror. Brandi Stage did her magic and showed me what I could not see in the mirror. I have a brighter and a new confidence. And ok yes my head got bigger. Lol!
