2025 40 Over 40 Series: Amanda Brady

Amanda’s story:

Learning to hold two things gently at once has been the emotional work of my life. I lost my mother and brother when I was 13. My husband died when I was 43. Two things can and do exist at once: sadness and great joy, sorrow and determination, helplessness and hope, rest and growth. Both things need to be acknowledged. One does not negate the other. These were hard lessons to wrestle with, but were so valuable. And I am still learning.

 

What are some of the rewarding parts of the current decade you are in? 

In my 40’s I have enjoyed watching my children reveal to themselves and the world the persons they are growing into. It’s fascinating to have a front row seat to their lives. I have also become more and more myself in this decade and realize that the discovery work of childhood and adolescence continues throughout life. I’m looking forward to what I will learn about myself in the next decades.

 

What was your experience like working with Brandi Stage Portraiture as a part of the 40 Over 40 Project?

I loved the experience! Having my hair and makeup done by a professional was fun and relaxing. Brandi was so kind and instructive as she guided our photo session. I love the results! I think every woman should experience this!
