2026 40 Over 40 Series: Kathryn Povolo
“A very difficult time in my life was when I went through unexplained infertility and 3 miscarriages. It lasted 6 years and my husband and I weren’t sure kids were in our future! Then at 40 I got pregnant with my son! I had my daughter at 42! Miracles really do happen. I feel so blessed and being a mom has been my grandest adventure yet! The best is yet to be! “
Kathryn’s story:
My life has contained a lot of highs and a lot of lows. I grew up in Wisconsin with a wonderful family. I received my teaching degree at the age of 23. I met my husband of 21 years in college. My husband and I both teach PE. Our teaching brought us from Wisconsin to Mississippi and Alaska! The people we’ve met and adventures we’ve had have been really special. A very difficult time in my life was when I went through unexplained infertility and 3 miscarriages. It lasted 6 years and my husband and I weren’t sure kids were in our future! Then at 40 I got pregnant with my son! I had my daughter at 42! Miracles really do happen. I feel so blessed and being a mom has been my grandest adventure yet! The best is yet to be!
What are some of the rewarding parts of the current decade you are in? The challenges?
Feeling wise, not taking life to seriously, and being a mom! Some challenges are my hormones and the physical changes my body has gone through in the last decade.
What has been your favorite decade you have lived through and why?
I loved my 40’s I had 2 kiddos and the rewards and challenges of motherhood have taught me so much about myself and my life!
If given the opportunity, what would you do differently?
I would’ve been smarter financially.
What was your top life lesson that you’ve never forgotten and have lived by?
No matter what life hands you trust and have faith that all life lessons contain a gift!
What has bought you the most joy in your life?
My children.
What was your experience like working with Brandi Stage Portraiture as a part of the 40 Over 40 Project?
I loved working with Brandi! Getting my hair and makeup done was such a special experience. Involving my whole family including the family dog meant so much to me. She made us all feel so comfortable. I also had a lot of fun!
