Tell us about yourself, Ashley!

Hi, there! My name is Ashley Rundberg and I am 32 years old. I grew up on the Gulf Coast before moving to Germany as an “Air Force Brat” during my childhood. I was blessed to have the opportunity to travel to many foreign places at a young age, and I believe those cultural experiences have shaped who I am today. I attended the University of Southern Mississippi and William Carey University and received both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in elementary education. I have been a teacher for the Ocean Springs School District for eleven years. I currently teach 5th grade with some of my favorite 10 year olds on the planet! My MOST favorite job is being a mother to my 3 year old and 2 year old (who keep me in shape running around)! My husband and I live with our family in Ocean Springs, MS. We are blessed to call the Gulf Coast our home!

 

How did you come to understand your inner beauty?

Growing up as an only child I had a lot of time to myself. Sometimes those times were lonely, but it allowed a great deal of self reflection. That “alone time” turned into building a relationship with God. When I was 12 years old I asked my mom if I could become Catholic. I attended Catholic school growing up, but I wanted to be baptized and officially accepted into the church. My inner beauty grew when I gave God the opportunity to show me.

 

What parts of your story can you share to help women to understand their own beauty?

I believe beauty is a feeling. Everyone ages and makeup washes off. At the end of the day it’s about how we feel that brings true value to our lives. Lipstick and lashes will fade in the grave, but what’s in your heart will last forever.

My favorite quote is from Maya Angelou: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

 

What was your experience with the photo shoot?

I was very humbled to be selected for this photoshoot. I was excited to be selected for my responses coming from my heart rather than a picture submission. It meant the world to me!

EXCELLENT experience! Brandi’s thoughtfulness and kindness made me feel right at home in her studio. Her taste is impeccable and her eye for photography is incomparable. Our session was so much fun and our conversations after were more than memorable! Kasper is a PHENOMENAL make up artist and stylist. His techniques are spot on and he knew exactly how to accentuate the looks for the photo shoot. He’s very personable and positive – I have a new friend in him!
